STIR CRAZY

Stir Crazy sits between an old hat store (that may or may not be closed when this publishes) and a corner liquor store on Melrose and La Brea. At one time it was a quiet coffee shop where aspiring local screenwriters could spend a few dollars and the day drinking coffee and writing their own piece of the Hollywood legacy. The retention of the name speaks to the underlying goals of Stir Crazy, rebuild what was beautiful, pay homage to what was significant, give back to a neighborhood and a legacy in LA while maybe enjoying a few sautéed chanterelles and glasses of natural wine along the way.

Stir Crazy today is a wine bar, an outdoor patio, a perfect first date, a cozy corner in the center of a mad city. What it is today is perhaps not what it will be tomorrow, but the team doesn’t seem to be worried, instead they’re letting the unknown be a guiding light. For now, here more than most in LA, you can sit, talk, relax and not feel like the bill is just a moment away from shuffling you out. That alone is something to celebrate.
